Support: VSS App Guide

Installation

Download the App

  • Search for "Howen VSS" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Install the app on your mobile device. The app will automatically adapt your device's language settings if supported; the default language is English.

Login

  • Enter the VSS server IP followed by port 9966 in the format IP:Port.
  • Input your username and password.
  • Click Login to access the app.






Dashboard

Device Status: View the device online rate, total number of devices, fleets, and users added to the VSS server.

Alarm Trend Graph: Displays a report on general alarms and DMS & ADAS alarms.

Alarm Rankings: This shows the ranking of each alarm type triggered today. The Device Alarm Ranking lists the top 10 triggered device alarms.

Map Functionality

Vehicle Selection

Select Vehicle:

  • Tap the icon in the upper-left corner to choose a fleet and vehicle.
  • The selection displays vehicles with icons, Plate Numbers, Device IDs, and GPS coordinates.
  • A green icon indicates an online vehicle; a gray icon indicates it is offline.

Vehicle Details:

  • Selecting a vehicle reveals more information, such as speed, mileage, and ignition status.
  • You can switch between vehicles by tapping the left/right arrows.

Live View

Access Live Video:

  • After selecting an online vehicle, click to enter the live video player.
  • Video Controls:


 : Choose which channel to view.

 : Begin or end video playback.

 : Communicate with the device.

 : Listen to the device’s audio.

 : View video in full screen.


Video Playback

Search Functionality

  • Location: Choose from Device, Alarm Server, Auto Download Server, or Video Server.
  • Type: Select Normal or Alarm video.
  • Channel: Pick the specific channel for playback.
  • DateTime: Set the date
  • Start Time: Set the start time
  • End Time: Set the end time
  • Search: Click to retrieve video results.






Playback Options

  • Drag along the timeline to reach specific timestamps for playback.
  • In File mode, click the play button to watch the video.

PTZ Control

Functionality: Control the PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera.

Track Vehicle History

  • Set start and end times to search for the vehicle’s historical route.
  • Playback Speed: Adjust the playback speed.
  • Start/Stop Playback: Control track playback.

: Select the speed of playback.

: Start/stop the track playback.




Image Search

This function is to search the pictures.

Location: Choose from Device, Alarm Server, Auto Download Server, or Video Server.

Type: Normal/ alarm

DateTime: Select the day needed for the search

Start Time: Set the start time for the search

End Time: Set the end time for the search

Search: Click to retrieve images from the selected location.



Device Information

Check the device information for the currently selected vehicle.



Evidence Review

  • Access Alarm Evidence:
    • View all alarm pictures and videos uploaded from the device to the VSS server.
    • Filter evidence by time range and alarm type.
  • Event Details:
  • Click on specific evidence to view details such as event type, location, alarm details, and driver information.





Alarm

  • Receive real-time alerts for alarms, including DMS & ADAS alarms.
  • View detailed information on alarm events such as type, speed, mileage, driver, location, and time.



My

Configure VSS App: System Settings

  • Map: Choose between Baidu, Bing, Google, or OSM maps. (Note: OSM is free; others require valid map keys from VSS Web maintenance.)
  • Distance unit: Set the unit to kilometers, miles, or nautical miles.
  • Default steam: Choose between sub-stream or mainstream (recommended: sub-stream to save SIM data).
  • Safe logout: Log out to return to the login page.
